cDc/AR/Trey Gunn

I've just discovered the cDc - and that ain't the center for DISEASE control - it's the cult of the DEAD cow. Pretty interesting stuff. You can get there by aiming your Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape, Opera or, if you must, IE browser at http://www.cultdeadcow.com/

It's a pretty interesting place where free thought is said to reign but most of what I've found is self referential definition and attempts at postmodern verbal gymnastics. But, as I said, pretty interesting if not pretty.

Now that it's been a near geologic age since I posted on this site, I imagine that anyone that might be AR enough to have found it, or fated to stumble across it might read it and promptly forget it. That's fine. I don't really care. But....

It does make me wonder - of all of the BLOGs out there in the virtual land of bits, bytes and simulated spaces, what percent is ever read by anyone other than the original author? Are there actually persons unnamed who, for want of something better to do with their time search out and devour the self indulgent musings of other folk with nothing better to do than create highly personalized web logs? Hmmm....and is it worth wondering about?

Other things that I've discovered recently - Trey Gunn, a master musician, artist and all around cool guy. He came to my attention several years ago when he began playing with the progressive music icon Robert Fripp in an incarnation of King Crimson. When Mr. Gunn joined Mr. Tony Levin in playing on a hammered guitar like instrument (Mr. Gunn playing the Warr Guitar and Mr. Levin on the Chapman Stick) I was amazed at the exotic near gamlan like rhythmic structures and sculptures that burst out of my sound system speakers. Just a few days ago I came across a CD/DVD combo package from Mr. Gunn entitled Untune the Sky which, if you can find it, should become a fixture in everyone's disc collection.

Okay. I've rambled enough. For Now.
